Attendees: Doug Lohmeier, John Ranz, Stiney Vonderhaar, Chief Hauck, Chief Korte, Dave Nichols, Chris Schuerman, Jim Cole, Chris Patterson, Mayor Apking, James Jeffers, Jim Brockschmidt
1. Gorman Heritage Farm- Impact 100 Grant
• Chris Schuerman provided updates on programs and that local businesses made donations to fund the existing Princeton field trips to the farm.
• There will be a Dedication to receiving the Historical Landmark distinction on May 18th.
• The farm has been asked to submit an application for the Impact 100 Grant for 2013, this year’s grant will be for $108,000 and the farm has already secured $98,000 in cash and in-kind donations. Farm representatives presented the need for the educational building is critical to their growth in programming to be successful and to fulfill the Gorman’s vision of creating a working & educational facility. Their request is for a pledge of $150,000 from the Village if they are awarded the grant this year to be budgeted in 2014. The committee agreed to support their request.
2. Fire Chief Hauck presented
• Hiring Update
i. Committee interviewed 17 candidates narrowing the field to 6 for home interviews & have a goal to send finalist to the hiring committee in mid April
• Blue Card Training
i. Several officers will receive training to manage fire scenes
• Ordinance Authorizing New Vehicle Purchase
i. Council will have an ordinance this month allowing all budgeted items from the state bid list to be purchased without individual ordinances.
• Mass Casualty Drill
i. Hamilton County is holding this drill and Chief Hauck will be participating with the use of the Village ambulance.
3. Police Chief Korte presented
• Update on neighboring community will not be installing traffic monitoring devices on the I-75 Southbound collector.
• Costs on providing document shredding service for all Village residents on Saturday April 20th, time and location to be determined by staff. Approximate cost is $600 for a four hour window; Mayor Apking agreed to appropriate the funds.
4. Recreation Report presented by Dave Nichols
• A CPR class will be conducted by Bob Murray at the recreation center next week & you can sign up at the recreation center.
• A facilities examination for ADA accessibility will be conducted for all Village areas
• James Jeffers reviewed suggested Shelter House renovations. The committee was in favor of having those suggestions go out for bid and to make decisions based on bid results.
5. FMLA
• Jack Cameron & Jim Brockschmidt presented revisions to policy and then informed the committee that the Finance Committee made suggestions that had not been reviewed by the Fire & Police Chiefs. Committee referred those suggestions to be reviewed by the Chiefs and come back with their evaluation.
6. Mayor Apking
• Presented a request to fund new window in the Cultural Arts building, not much detail was presented and he agreed to get more details and design for next month.
